A cute book that teaches about learning something new and about friendship. Sneezy is cute, but he's freezing and every time he tries to warm up...well read on and learn what happens each time. Great for children of all ages. I read this as part of my Prime membership.
I am pretty picky when it comes to winter or Christmas books. I like to find books that focus a little less on Santa & more on love & kindness & the spirit of the season. I really enjoy this one & the kids have a lot of fun with it too. I read this story along with a snowman game at my kids' preschool & 1st grade class parties this past year & it was a big hit with both age groups. The kids like the fun repetition of the story & they like to do big exaggerated sneezes along with Sneezy. I liked that the children in the story all share their things with Sneezy. One girl even gives Sneezy the coat off her back. So the kids get a fun story & mom gets to talk about the importance of giving. Win win!
I need to take a moment during this busy holiday week to let everyone know that this is our home's new favorite book! It's been requested by my 3.5 year old EVERY night since it arrived. The rhyming scheme is creative and the story line is both funny AND teaches empathy, problem solving, and sharing -- all while making both little dude and his parental readers giggle. The illustrations are so cute! The emotions that the illustrator captures augment the story's humorous rhymes.The storyline offers plenty of little dude interaction:-- when the snowman says "brrrr" then we both pretend to be cold and shiver too.-- when the snowman sneezes, queue little dude to make a giant "aaahchooo" fake sneeze!-- when the snowman melts, we both make funny "blublbublubug" melting sounds (don't worry, Sneezy is ok! The kids help him out every time.).This book also provides opportunities to count objects on the page and talk about the content of the images. (one of little dude's favorite prompts to adults is "talk about it" to almost everything) The two cardinals in the background of most scenes are hilarious! And because the images are so expressive, we can point out different emotions, or name actions: happy, sad, uncomfortable, thankful, concerned, worried, friendly, sharingDurability: We've been transitioning away from board books and I'm always a little skittish about how thick and durable the paperback pages will be when ordering books online. These pages have a sheen to them and they are more durable for little hands than some other books we've ordered. Successful page turns by little dude so far while in heavy rotation and zero page tears.
I use this book in speech therapy with my students! Excellent for targeting consonant blends, story sequencing and much more!
This is a family favorite and has been for over two years now. We pull it out every winter and each child we have had adores this wonderful sweet book. It encourages sharing and is an over all gentle story about a few children and a snowman. We love it!
This book has a cute, if not a little dark, repetition with Sneezy being a slightly less annoying snowman than Olaf. Made this adult laugh a few times. Well done!
